This paper deals with the problem of heat transfer in unsteady free convective flow over a continuous moving vertical sheet in an ambient fluid when the stretching velocity varies arbitrary with time. Both cases of constant surface temperature and constant wall heat flux are considered. The nonlinear coupled partial differential equations governing the flow and heat transfer have been solved numerically, using very efficient numerical methods known as Keller box method and, respectively, Nakamura tridiagonal method. Results on the velocity and temperature profiles, wall temperature and Nusselt number are obtained and compared with those available in the literature. It is shown that the Nusselt number increases with the increase of the Prandtl number, which implies that a better cooling performance can be achieved by using liquid as a medium rather than a gas.
