The connection between representations of the general linear group \(\text{GL}_n(q)\) and the \(q\)-Schur algebra \(S_q(n)\) has been introduced by \textit{R. Dipper} and \textit{G. James} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., III. Ser. 59, No. 1, 23-50 (1989; Zbl 0711.20007)]. The author investigates this connection with concentration on the unipotent representations.
