One of the fundamental problems in the perturbation theory of quantum field theory is the approximate evaluation of physical values (in the form of path integrals), which is reduced to the evaluation of a finite (as a rule, of a small) number of terms of the expansion with respect to the coupling constant. In various quantum field models, the calculations that include only a number of the lower order terms of the expansion with respect to the coupling constant are in a good agreement with results of experiments. The authors propose a method of evaluating path integrals such that the integral is approximated with any accuracy by summation of a finite number of terms of an absolutely convergent series. For Part II see Zbl 0938.81015 below.
