    The authors study the integro-differential system with time delay \(u_t= \delta\beta w(t-\tau,x)- \gamma(v)u- fu\), \(v_t= fu- hv\), \(w_t= \alpha\ell(v)- \beta w+ dw_{xx}\) (\(t\in(0,\infty)\), \(x\in(0,1)\)), where \(\gamma(v)= a(v- b)^2+ c\) \((a,b,c>0)\), \(\ell(v)= \int^1_0 v(t,x) dx\). This system is considered with the initial and Neumann boundary conditions \(u(0,x)= u_0(x)\), \(v(0,x)= v_0(x)\), \(w(\theta,x)= w^\theta(x)\) \((\theta\in[-\tau, 0])\), \(x\in (0,1)\), \(w_x(t,0)= w_x(t, 1)= 0\), \(t\geq 0\). The system is a model of a mono-species forest; \(u\) denotes the density of young trees, \(v\) denotes the density of old trees, \(w\) denotes the density of air-borne seeds; \(\alpha\), \(\beta\), \(\delta\), \(d\), \(f\), \(h\) are some constants which represent various rates (for seed production, deposition, diffusion, etc.). The existence and uniqueness of a classical global solution \(t\to (u(t,x),v(t,x), w(t,x))\), \(t\in [0,\infty)\), is proved; there are also studied the existence and the stability (a global exponential stability) of the equilibrium solutions.
