The paper is concerned with the partial differential equation \(-\Delta u+u=h(x)f(u)\) where \(h(x)\) is almost periodic, \(x\in\mathbb{R}^N\) and \(f\) satisfies certain growth conditions. It is a continuation of work of the same author [Calc. Var. Partial Differ. Equ. 9, No.~3, 207-232 (1999)] considering the existence of non-trivial homoclinic-type solutions, and gives a positive answer under some reflection symmetry constraints on \(h(x)\). (A ``homoclinic-type'' solution is one for which \(|u(x)|+|\nabla u(x)|\rightarrow 0\) as \(|x|\rightarrow\infty\).) The theme is developed by analogy with the paper [\textit{E. Sera, M. Tarallo} and \textit{S. Terracini}, Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 13, No.~6, 783-812 (1996; Zbl 0873.58032)] and uses elliptic regularity theory for the functional \(I(u)=\frac{1}{2}\|u\|^2-\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}h(x)f(u)dx\) with an application of the Mountain Pass theorem of [\textit{A. Ambrosetti} and \textit{P. H. Rabinowitz}, J. Funct. Anal. 14, 349-381 (1973; Zbl 0273.49063)].
