Finite gratings at high frequencies (Q1818988)

The problem of scattering by a finite periodic dielectric grating placed on the interface between semi-infinite dielectric media is investigated. An approximation method is developed to treat the finite grating at high frequencies. The approach presented is based on geometric optics techniques and it is proven that the first order approximation is the solution of the infinite periodic grating. The extension of the developed asymptotic approach to construct geometric-optics asymptotic solutions to scattering of Maxwell equations by a finite periodic dielectric grating placed on the interface between semi-infinite dielectric media is also submitted.
