Let \(\Omega\) be a set and \(X\) a Banach space. Let \(\ell_\infty(\Omega,X)\) be the Banach space of \(X\) valued functions on \(\Omega\). The norm on \(\ell_\infty(\Omega,X)\) is the supremum norm. One of the theorems in this paper states that if \(\ell_\infty(\Omega,X)\) contains a complemented copy of \(c_0\), then \(X\) contains a copy of \(c_0\). The paper contains variations of the above theorem and applications to more specific settings. The result also generalizes a 1994 theorem of \textit{S. Díaz} [Proc. Am. Math Soc. 120, 1167-1172 (1994; Zbl 0801.46009)].
