The problem of extending some special families of zero sets of a subspace to a family of disjoint zero sets of the whole space is discussed. Discrete families of zero sets and families of zero sets discrete in the unions are considered. It is shown that the extension problem for discrete families holds for closed subsets of collectionwise \(\delta\)- normal spaces; the extension problem for families discrete in the union holds for closed subsets of collectionwise \({\bar \delta}\)-normal spaces; both extension problems are equivalent in the case of hereditarily extremally disconnected spaces.
