Numerical solutions of integral equations on the half line. I: The compact case (Q1819559)

Numerical approximation schemes of quadrature type are investigated for integral equations of the form \[ x(s)-\int ^{\infty}_{0}k(s,t)x(t)dt=y(s). \] In this paper, the hypotheses will ensure that the integral operator is compact in an appropriate Banach space. A sequel will deal with Wiener-Hopf integral equations.
