Let F be a class of analytic functions f regular in the unit disk and normalized by \(f(0)=f'(0)-1=0\). Let \(\sigma\) be a probability measure supported by the unit interval I. Then a linear operator L on F is defined by \[ Lf(z)=\int_{I}f(zt)t^{-1}d\sigma (t). \] It can be interpolated into a family \(\{L^{\lambda}\}\) depending on a continuous parameter \(\lambda\) such that the additivity \(L^{\lambda}L^{\mu}=L^{\lambda +\mu}\) holds. If, in particular, \(\sigma (t)=t\), then \(L^{\lambda}\) coincides with the fractional integration of order \(\lambda\) with respect to log z; cf. the author, Bull. Fac. Sci. Eng., Chuo Univ., Ser. I 22, 1-22 (1979; Zbl 0462.30023). In succession to this particular case, the present paper deals with the family of operators \(\{L(a)^{\lambda}\}\) generated by the measure \(\sigma (t)=t^ a\) with \(a>0\), which admits the explicit representation \[ L(a)^{\lambda}f(z)=(a^{\lambda}/\Gamma (\lambda))\int_{I}f(zt)t^{a-2}(\log (1/t))^{\lambda -1}dt. \] Besides a relation of L(a) to the ordinary integration, several distortion properties on some functionals are derived. For instance, it is shown that the functional \(h_{\lambda}(a)=\min_{| z| =r}Re z^{-1}L(a)^{\lambda}f(z)\) on F with a fixed \(r\in (0,1)\) satisfies for \(\delta >0\) the inequality \[ h_{\lambda +\delta}(a)\geq h_{\lambda}(a)+\Phi (\delta,a)(1-h_{\lambda}(a)) \] where \(\Phi (\delta,a)=1-2a^{\delta}\sum^{\infty}_{\nu =2}(-1)^{\nu}(\nu +a- 1)^{-\delta}\). The monotonicity properties of \(\Phi\) with respect to \(\delta\) and a are discussed in detail.
