Let \(L^ p_ k\) be the set of even measurable functions f for which \[ N_{p,k}(f)=\int^{+\infty}_{-\infty}| f(t)|^ pe^{- 2k| t|}dt<\infty;\quad 1\leq p<\infty \quad k=1,2,... \] with the norm \(N_{p,k}(f)^{1/p}\) and \(I^ p_*\) be the inductive limit of the spaces \(L^ p_ k\) thus obtained. Moreover, let \(C_*\) be a similar construction of topological vector space of continuous functions with \[ N_ k(f)=\sup | f(t)| e^{-k| t|},\quad t\in R. \] Let \(T^ yf(t)=u(t,y)\) be defined for \(f\in C^ 2(R)\) as the solution of the Cauchy problem \[ u''_{tt}(t,y)-q(t)\quad u(t,y)=u'_{yy}(t,y)-q(y)u(t,y) \] \[ u_ y'(t,0)=0;\quad u(t,0)=f(t), \] where q is a continuous even function, and \(S^ y\) \(f(t)=0.5[f(t+y)+f(t-y)]\). Then the closed subspaces invariant under the operators \(S^ y\) in the spaces \(L^ p_*\) and \(C_*\) are in one-to- one correspondence, which can be obtained by assigning to every subspace in \(C_*\) its closure in \(L^ p_*\). The main result of the paper is a description of the \(T^ y\)-invariant subspaces of \(L^ p_*\) too long for the detailed account. Besides, interesting lemmas concerning the structure of \(L^ p_*\) and connected with the proof of the main results are obtained.
