\textit{S. Crossley} and \textit{S. Hildebrand} [Fundam. Math. 74, 233-254 (1972; Zbl 0227.54021) introduced semihomeomorphisms, irresolute functions, and presemiopen functions. The author discusses conditions on a function and on the domain and the range of the function for which every semihomeomorphism is a homeomorphism: (1) every irresolute, presemiopen function is continuous; (2) every irresolute, presemiopen function is open.
