The structure of dual potentials in nonlinear infinitesimal elasticity is investigated under a general requirement that the components of strain increase in fixed ratio when the components of stress do. The contour surfaces of such potentials are self-similar and their respective geometries are linked by mutual polar reciprocity. The resulting class of constitutive relations is reduced to canonical form and some general implications are worked out in detail. Much of the analysis is relevant also to viscous creep and plasticity, when transposed by the well known analogues.
