On fuzzy ideals of a ring. I (Q1821817)

The authors establish an interesting characterization of the regular rings via the notion of fuzzy ideals. Then, after they have introduced the definition of fuzzy prime ideal of a ring R, they single out the R- prime ideals from the family of R-ideals, with the equivalence: \[ A\text{ R-prime ideal }\Leftrightarrow \quad \lambda_ A\text{ fuzzy prime ideal of } R \] where \(\lambda_ A\) is the characteristic function of A. At last the authors apply the previous results: (a) to the ring \({\mathbb{Z}}\) of integers, obtaining some interesting properties of \({\mathbb{Z}}\)-fuzzy ideals; (b) to ring theory, obtaining a sufficient condition in order that a ring with unity is Noetherian.
