The author deals with valued field extensions \(F\subseteq F'\) with the same value group of finite rank and proves that if \(R\subseteq R'\) is their valuation ring extension and k the residue field of R and if char k\(=0\) and \(F\subseteq F'\) is algebraic, then R' is a filtered inductive union of its étale, essentially finite sub-R-algebras of finite presentation. Moreover if \([F':F]<\infty\) then \(R\subseteq R'\) is étale, essentially finite and essentially of finite presentation. The author also introduces the definitions of a dense extension, of a desingularization extension, of a weak desingularization extension and of a formally desingularization extension and he studies these extensions.
