If u is a bounded unitary on a Krejn space \({\mathfrak K}\) with u-JuJ compact, then there exists a unitary (not necessarily bounded) operator v with respect to the indefinite inner product and a dense subspace D of \({\mathfrak K}\) such that \[ vUv^{-1} = \begin{pmatrix} u_{11}& u_{12}& u_{13} \\ 0& u_{22}& u_{23} \\ 0& 0& u_{33} \end{pmatrix} \text{ on D} \] where \(u_{11}\) and \(u_{33}\) act on neutral subspaces and the closure of \(u_{22}\) is a unitary on a Hilbert space obtained by the completion of D with respect to the positive definite inner product \((\xi | \eta)_ v=(v\xi | v\eta)\), where (\(|)\) is given from the indefinite inner product \(<,>\) by the relation \(<\xi,\eta >=(J\xi | \eta)\) and J is the metric operator.
