Semigroups \(S_ 1\), \(S_ 2\) are u-isomorphic if there exists a bijection \(\phi\) : \(S_ 1\to S_ 2\) such that for every pair \(a,b\in S_ 1\) we have \(a=ab\) if and only if \(\phi (a)=\phi (a)\cdot \phi (b)\). For an arbitrary topological space, the semigroup of all continuous functions (with pointwise multiplication) and the semigroup of all bounded continuous functions are u-isomorphic. On the other hand, if \(X_ 1\), \(X_ 2\) are completely regular Hausdorff spaces such that their semigroups of all bounded continuous functions are u-isomorphic then the Stone-Čech compactifications of \(X_ 1\) and \(X_ 2\) are homeomorphic. The author weakens this condition by considering semigroups other than the multiplicative semigroups of real numbers.
