Let G be a simple, simply connected algebraic group which is defined and split over a local field K (of characteristic 0). - In Chapter III of his monograph, \textit{P. Gérardin} [Construction de séries discretes p- adiques (Lect. Notes Math. 462, 1975; Zbl 0302.22002)] showed that the conjugacy classes under G(K) of maximal K-tori of G which split over unramified extensions of K correspond in a one-to-one way with the conjugacy classes of elements of finite order of the affine Weyl group of the root system of G. He also described the K-anisotropic cases. The present author concentrates on the case when G is classical (except \(D_ n\), n not a multiple of 4) and the K-anisotropic torus splits over a cyclic unramified extension of K, of degree equal to the order of a Coxeter element in most cases. To obtain a precise count of conjugacy classes of such tori, he uses facts from Galois cohomology and properties of local fields, proceeding separately for each type A, B, C, D.
