Distributed-multirate methods are procedures for integrating a system of ordinary differential equations using different numerical methods to integrate different subsystems on separate processors. The authors treat procedures based on linear multistep methods and discuss convergence for problems treated as two subsystems. A stability analysis is given for the case where the Jacobian matrix is block tridiagonal. Finally, some practical experience is reported.
