The generalized scalar wave equation with the generalized linear differential invariant is defined for linear elastic analysis. The media which admit this differential equation form are investigated. Green's medium, a transverse isotropic medium, and an orthotropic medium were found to satisfy the scalar wave equation form. The isotropic elastic medium is a special case of the results. We proceed by defining the general form of the scalar wave equation and the form of the linear differential invariant which are suggested from linear isotropic elasticity, a semi-inverse technique involving the invariant of a symmetric form and then antisymmetric form is used to determine the elastic media satifying the imposed conditions. The solutions correspond with known information in the literature.
