Coset diagrams for an action of the extended modular group on the projective line over a finite field (Q1825281)

Let \(F_ q\) be the finite field of order q, let \(PL(F_ q)=F_ q\cup \{\infty \}\) be the projective line over \(F_ q\) and let \({\mathbb{Z}}\) be the ring of rational integers. To each homomorphism from the extended modular group PGL(2,\({\mathbb{Z}})\) to PGL(2,q) there corresponds (via the natural permutation representation of PGL(2,q) on \(PL(F_ q))\) an action on \(PL(F_ q)\), and this action gives rise to a coset diagram. In this paper the author determines polynomial type conditions under which this diagram contains a collection of circuits.
