The paper is concerned with outgoing wave solutions of the Helmholtz equation in \(\mathbb R^ n\). They are characterized as Laplace transforms of entire functions of Plancherel-Polya type, taken on appropriate cycles of the complex \((n-1)\)-sphere in \(\mathbb R^ n\). For classes of solutions which enjoy an additional property of revolution symmetry, an integral representation, involving a universal kernel, is derived; this representation expresses each outgoing solution \(\psi_+\) defined outside a given revolution hypersurface \(\Sigma\) in terms of a holomorphic function of one complex variable \(f\), defined outside the meridian curve of \(\Sigma\), considered as imbedded in \(\mathbb C\). Moreover, \(f\) appears to be the Laplace-Borel transform of the analytic continuation of the ``radiation amplitude'' of \(\psi_+\).
