Let K be an algebraically closed field of finite transcendence degree over an algebraically closed subfield F. The algebraically closed fields between F and K ordered by the inclusion form a geometric lattice on whose atoms there exists a combinatorial geometry. \textit{A. W. Ingleton} and \textit{R. A. Main} [Bull. Lond. Math. Soc. 7, 144-146 (1975; Zbl 0315.05018)] found their example of a non-algebraic matroid by considering a lemma for such an algebraically closed combinatorial geometry (ACCG). The author generalizes this lemma in the following manner: ``If \(\pi_ 1\), \(\pi_ 2\), \(\pi_ 3\) are v three flats on ACCG over a field f such that for an integer \(r\geq 3\quad rank (\pi_ 1\vee \pi_ 2\vee \pi_ 3)=r,\quad rank (\pi_ i\vee \pi_ j)=r-1,\quad 1\leq i<j\leq 3,\quad rank (\pi_ i)=r-2,\quad 1\leq i\leq 3,\) then \(\pi_ 1\wedge \pi_ 2=\pi_ 1\wedge \pi_ 3=\pi_ 2\wedge \pi_ 3\) and the rank of this flat is r-3.'' As an application, he gets an infinite class of non- algebraic matroids such that no member of this class is a minor of another member.
