    Let \(C^ r[a,b]\) be the space of all r-times continuously differentiable real functions on the interval [a,b]. The space of polynomials of order at most m is denoted by \(\Pi_ m\). Let a set of knots \(K_ n=\{x_ 0,...,x_ n\}\) with \(n\geq 1\) and \(a=x_ 0<x_ 1<...<x_{n-1}<x_ n=b\) be given. For \(m\geq 2\) is defined \[ P_ m(K_ n)=\{s\in C^{m- 2}[a,b]:\quad S_{|]x_{i-1,x_ i}[}\in \Pi_ m,\quad i=1,...,n,\quad S^{(j)}(a)=S^{(j)}(b),\quad j=0,...,m-2\} \] the space of periodic splines of order m with the set of knots \(K_ n\). It is shown that every periodic continuous function \(f\in C[a,b]\) has a unique best \(L_ 1\)-approximation from \(P_ m(K_ n)\), although \(P_ m(K_ n)\) is not weak Chebyshev in general.
