    The authors consider the \(2m\)th-order boundary value problem \[ (-1)^m u^{(2m)}(x)= \lambda g(u(x))u(x),\quad x\in (-1,1),\;u^{(1)}(-1)= u^{(i)}(1)= 0, \quad i=0,\dots, m-1, \tag{1} \] where \(\lambda\in \mathbb{R}\) and the function \(g:\mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}\) is a \(C^1\)-function satisfying some conditions. The authors obtain families of nontrivial solutions of this problem bifurcating from \(u=0\) and belonging to the eigenvalues of the linearized problem, and determine the exact number of solutions of (1) for \(\lambda\) lying in various intervals of \(\mathbb{R}\).
