A \(d\)-fold uniform covering of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) by elementary shapes is a level \(d\) multiple tiling of \(\mathbb{R}^n\). The set of level values for which a prototile (a model shape) admits a multiple tiling is called the level semigroup of the prototile. In this paper the existence of prototiles with nontrivial level semigroups is discussed. It is shown that for any \(a,b\in\mathbb{N}\) there is a prototile whose level semigroup is exactly the set of nonnegative integer linear combinations of \(a\) and \(b\). In consideration are mostly used 1-dimensional tiles and 1-dimensional tilings, since these results can be easily exported to higher dimensions. The used tiles are allowed to be made of disconnected components.
