    This paper extends some of the known results from the representation theory of \(p\)-adic Lie groups to the isometry group \(G\) of a \(q+1\) regular tree, \(q\geq 2\). The author applies Bruhat, Cartan and Iwasawa decompositions of \(G\), first observed by \textit{F. M. Choucroun} [Mém. Soc. Math. Fr., Nouv. Sér. 58, 1-166 (1994; Zbl 0840.43019)], to describe the structure of the \(U\)-Hecke algebra \({\mathcal H}(G,U)\) consisting of the elements of \({\mathcal H}(G)=C^\infty_c(G)\) bi-invariant under a congruence subgroup \(U\) of \(G\). In particular, he shows that \({\mathcal H}(G,U)\) is finitely generated. From this he derives uniform admissibility of smooth irreducible representations of \(G\), i.e., for any fixed congruence subgroup \(U\) of \(G\), \(\max\{\dim V^U\mid V\in\text{Irr}(G)\}<\infty\). Using this result, the author strengthens a theorem of \textit{I.~N. Bernstein} and \textit{A. V. Zelevinsky} [Russ. Math. Surv. 31, No. 3, 1--68 (1976); translation from Usp. Mat. Nauk 41, No. 3(189), 5--70 (1976; Zbl 0342.43017)] and shows that any \(G\)-module \(V\) can be written as \(V=V_1\oplus V_2\), such that all the irreducible subquotients of \(V_1\) are cuspidal (have compactly supported matrix coefficients), while \(V_2\) does not have any irreducible cuspidal subquotients. From this decomposition the author deduces that if a \(G\)-module \(V\) is generated by its \(U\)-fixed vectors \(V^U\), then every submodule of \(V\) has the same property.
