Introduced the notion of spectral algebra \(C^*(E)\) associated to product system \(E\), which can be viewed as a continuous analogue of the Cuntz' algebra \(\mathcal O_n\), \textit{W. Arverson} [J. Funct. Anal. 90, 138-205 (1990)] established that there is a 1-1 correspondence between representations of such objects, semigroups and representations of \(C^*(E)\) and that \(C^*(E)\) is simple and nuclear if the product system \(E\) is not of type III. In the paper under reviewing the author shows that in this case \(C^*(E)\) is even purely infinite and hence isomorphic to \(\mathcal O_2 \otimes \mathcal K\) (Theorem 3.3).
