Let \(G\) be a compact Lie group and \({\mathfrak g}\) its Lie algebra. Suppose \(G\) acts on a symplectic manifold \((X,w)\) in a Hamiltonian fashion, with moment map \(\mu:X\to{\mathfrak g}^*\). If 0 is a regular value of \(\mu\) and \(G\) acts freely on \(\mu^{-1}(0)\), then the symplectic quotient \(X_0= \mu^{-1}(0)/G\) is a smooth symplectic manifold. A prequantum line bundle \(L\) on \((X,w)\) is a complex line bundle whose curvature is \(\frac 1i w\). Suppose such a bundle \(L\) exists and the \(G\)-action lifts to \(L\), then the bundle \(L\) descends to a prequantum line bundle \(L_0\) on \(X_0\). Guillemin and Sternberg show that if \(X\) is compact and Kähler then \[ H^0(X,{\mathcal O}(L))^G\cong H^0(X_0,{\mathcal O}(L_0)). \] In this paper it is shown that \[ H^k(X,{\mathcal O}(L))^G\cong H^k(X_0,{\mathcal O}(L_0)) \] for all \(k\geq 0\) for a class of noncompact Kähler manifolds with \(\mathbb{C}^*\)-actions satisfying certain assumptions.
