Separation and epimorphisms in quasi-uniform spaces (Q1840726)

It is well known that the category of uniform spaces allows only for relatively few closure operators in the categorical sense. In contrast to this, the present paper shows that the category \textbf{QUnif} of quasi-uniform spaces carries plenty of different closure operators which then are studied comprehensively. Prominently among those are the so-called regular closure operators with respect to some subcategory \({\mathbf A}\) of \textbf{QUnif} which, together with their generalization of semiregular closure operator, are used to characterize the epimorphisms in various subcategories of \textbf{QUnif}. The paper in particular contains a whealth of examples and counterexamples.
