This work extends the Carleman inequality for linear parabolic equations to the \(L^2\)-norm. The author has shown the applicability of this result in the optimal control theory of linear parabolic equations with \(L^\infty\) state constraints as well as to the exponential stabilizability of semilinear heat equations.
