Some estimates of the minimizing properties of web functions (Q1849471)

This paper concerns an approximation result for the minima of functionals (eventually not convex) of the type \[ \int_\Omega [f(|\nabla u|)- u] dx \] in the Sobolev class \(W^{1,1}_0(\Omega)\). The authors estimate the ``error'' one makes by considering the minimum of the same functional in the class of the web functions (i.e., the functions depending on the distance from the boundary \(\partial\Omega\)). Finally, they study some interesting models.
