The Weil-Petersson isometry group (Q1851085)

Let \(T_{g,n}\) be the Teichmüller space of Riemann surfaces of genus \(g\) with \(n\) punctures. In the case \((g,n) \neq (1,2)\) and \(3g-3+n>1\), the authors prove that the group of isometries with respect to the Weil-Petersson metric is exactly the extended mapping class group (also the group of isometries of the Teichmüller metric). The proof follows ideas used by \textit{N. Ivanov} [Int. Math. Res. Not. 1997, 651-666 (1997; Zbl 0890.57018)] on the asymptotic geometry of the Teichmüller space to obtain the group of isometries of the Teichmüller metric.
