The motivation of this paper is the following analogue of the finite basis problem for algebras with polynomial identities. Let \(f_1,\dots,f_k\) be formal multilinear forms of arity \(n(1),\dots,n(k)\), respectively. If \(X=\{x_1,x_2,\ldots\}\), then one considers the symmetric algebra over the base field \(K\) of the vector space with basis consisting of all \(f_i(x_{j_1},\dots,x_{j_{n(i)}})\) and defines \(S\)-ideals of the symmetric algebra as the ideals which are invariant under the action of the general linear group GL\(_{\infty}(K)\). The finite basis problem asks whether the elements of any sequence of ``polynomials'' follow from a finite subsequence, i.e. whether any \(S\)-ideal is finitely generated as an \(S\)-ideal. In the general case and over a field of positive characteristic the answer is negative and the author restricts his considerations to the finite basis problem for multilinear systems of polynomials. The problem is translated into the language of modular representation theory of symmetric groups -- where some submodules of Specht modules can be generated by submodules of Specht modules corresponding to diagrams with smaller number of columns. The author gives some criteria for such generation and answers into affirmative his problem for diagrams with two rows.
