The author continues his own research on several variants of the positive energy theorem within general relativity theory. It should be noted that he published on this topic already in 1979. The reference list of the present paper collects five papers by Yau himself (with different coauthors). Here, the emphasis is on the existence of stable incompressible hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature; these hypersurfaces can be combined with inequalities for the energy-momentum tensor and with the Einstein gravitational field equation such that in the result, statements about the topology of the horizon of the black hole can be proven.
