In this paper the authors study the representation theory of certain ``half lattice vertex algebras''. Let \(L\) be an even integral lattice spanned by \(\{c_i,d_i\mid i=1,\dots,\nu\}\) with a symmetric \(\mathbb Z\)-bilinear form \((\cdot, \cdot)\) given by \((c_i, c_j)=(d_i,d_j)=0\) and \((c_i, d_j)= k\delta_{ij}\), where \(k\in \mathbb Z\). As a vector space, the lattice vertex algebra corresponding to \(L\) is \(V_L= S(\mathfrak{h}\otimes t^{-1}\mathbb C[t^{-1}])\otimes \mathbb C[L]\), where \(\mathfrak{h} = \mathbb C\otimes_{\mathbb Z} L\) [\textit{R. E. Borcherds}, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 84, 3068--3071 (1986; Zbl 0613.17012); \textit{I. B. Frenkel, J. Lepowsky}, and \textit{A. Meurman} Vertex operator algebras and the monster, Academic Press, Boston, MA (1988; Zbl 0674.17001)] . The half lattice vertex algebra associated with \(L\) is the subalgebra of \(V_L\) obtained by replacing \(\mathbb C[L]\) with \(\mathbb C[L_c]\), where \(L_c=\bigoplus_{i=1}^\nu \mathbb Z c_i\). As the authors show in Proposition 2.4, this half lattice vertex algebra coincides in fact with the simple vertex subalgebra \(V_L^G\) of \(V_L\) consisting of all \(G\)-invariants, where \(G\) is a certain abelian subgroup of \(\text{Aut}(V_L)\). They construct an associative algebra \(A\) and prove that there is a correspondence between \(A\)- and \(V\)-modules. Finally, the authors show that \(A\) is actually isomorphic to the Zhu algebra \(A(V)\).
