    This paper is concerned with the existence of maximal and minimal solutions for the following boundary value problem for the \(n\)th-order nonlinear integro-differential equation of mixed type in a real Banach space \(E\) \[ u^{(n)}(t)=f(t,u(t),u'(t),\ldots,u^{(n-1)}(t), (Tu)(t),(Su)(t)), \quad t\in J:=[0,\infty), \] \[ u^{(i)}(0)=u_{i}^{*} \;(i=0,1,\ldots,n-2), \quad u^{(n-1)}(\infty)=\beta u^{(n-1)}(0), \] where \(f\in C(J\times E\times E\times\ldots\times E\times E\times E,E),\) \(u_{i}^{*}\in E\) \((i=0,1,\ldots,n-2)\), \(\beta>1\), \(u^{(n-1)}(\infty)=\lim_{t\to\infty}u^{(n-1)}(t)\), \((Tu)(t)=\int_{0}^{t}k(t,s)u(s) ds\), \((Su)(t)=\int_{0}^{\infty}h(t,s)u(s) ds\), \(t\in J.\) The proof is based on a comparison result and the concept of upper and lower solutions. An example is presented illustrating the abstract theory.
