The theorem of Atkinson and Wilcox proves that any scattered field can be expanded into a uniformly and absolutely convergent series in inverse powers of distance and that once the leading term (that is the scattering amplitude) is known the full series can be recovered up to the smallest sphere containing the scatterer in its interior. In this paper the author extends the Atkinson-Wilcox theorem to the ellipsoidal system. He proves that the theorem, as well as the relative recovering algorithm, hold true all the way down to the smallest circumscribing ellipsoid. The author also discusses the importance of his result for numerical purposes.
