Part I, cf. ibid. 225, 130--141 (2000; Zbl 0951.17003). Let \({\mathfrak g}\) be a finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra and \(\mathfrak b\) a Borel subalgebra of \(\mathfrak g\). This paper studies the set \(\mathcal I\) of ad-nilpotent ideals of \(\mathfrak b\). Write \(W\) for the Weyl group of \(\mathfrak g\), \(\widehat{Q}\) for the coroot lattice, \(h\) for the Coxeter number, and \(e_1,\ldots,e_n\) for the exponents of \(W\). The main theorem establishes a bijection between \(\mathcal I\) and the natural \(W\)-orbits in \(\widehat{Q}/(h+1)\widehat{Q}\). As a result, they conclude the order of \(\mathcal I\) is \[ \frac{1}{| W|} \prod_{i=1}{n}(h+e_i+1). \] This formula was know previously only by a case by case inspection.
