The problem for row-by-row decoupling of linear time-invariant systems by using proportional and derivative state feedback is studied. The main contribution, with respect to previous results, is that a numerical method to compute the desired feedback matrices is developed. The new method is only based on orthogonal similarity transformations and hence is claimed to be numerically reliable. The number of computational operations is of order \(O(n^3)\). No numerical examples are presented.
