The author generalizes his ``regularization'' program [begun in Aequationes Math. 30, 21-54 (1986; Zbl 0589.39012), or sooner]: (i) measurability \(\Rightarrow\) continuity, (ii) Baire \(\Rightarrow\) continuity, (iii)--(iv) continuity\(\Rightarrow\) Lipschitz \(\Rightarrow C^1,\) (v) \(C^p\Rightarrow C^{p+1}\) (under appropriate conditions for the ``known'' functions) to functional equations of the same form \[ f(t)=h(t,y,f[g_1(t,y)],\dots,f[g_n(t,y)]) \] as before, but on manifolds. Here \(F\to Z\) is the unknown, \(g_j: D\to T\) \((j=1,\dots,n)\), \(h:D\times Z^n\to Z\) the ``known'' functions, \(T, Y, Z\) are manifolds, \(D\) an open subset of \(T\times Y.\) Step (iii) causes the most trouble: in addition to replacing Lipschitz (meaningless in this setting) by locally Lipschitz functions, this part of the program is carried through for compact \(T,\) although partial results are offered also for general \(T.\)
