Algebraic fundamental group and simplicial complexes. (Q1861480)

The author unifies algebra and algebraic topology presenting an elegant proof that the fundamental group of a simplicial complex is isomorphic to the algebraic fundamental group of its incidence algebra. Thus, the results of \textit{I. Assem} and \textit{J. A. de la Peña} [Commun. Algebra 24, No. 1, 187-208 (1996; Zbl 0880.16007)] are a consequence of a classic fact in algebraic topology. An algebraic Van Kampen theorem is derived as well.
