This article deals with a new coincidence index for pairs \(A @<p<<Z@>q>> C\), where \(A\) and \(C\) are subsets of a Fréchet space \(E\) with a defining system \(P\) of seminorms, \(p\) a Vietoris mapping, \(q\) a mapping satisfying the following condition: for every \(i\in P\) and for each countably bounded non-\(i\)-precompact subset \(\Omega\) of \(A\) (i.e., \(\Omega\) is not precompact in the pseudonormed space \((E,i))\), \(\alpha_i(p^{-1}(\Omega))< \alpha_i (\Omega)\); here \(\alpha_i\) denotes the measure of noncompactness in the pseudonormed space \((E,i)\), \(\alpha_i(M)= \inf\{\varepsilon >0:M\subseteq B(A, \varepsilon)\) for some finite subset \(A\) of \(E\)\}. A similar coincidence index in the case when \(E\) is a Banach space and \(q\) is compact was defined by A. Granas and Z. Kucharski; in this article, the authors first enlarge this index on pairs (with compact \(q)\) in Fréchet spaces and, second, on arbitrary pairs (with countably \(P\)-concentrative \(q)\). They formulate some results about the non-triviality of a new index and about its homotopic invariance property.
