The paper studies the uniform stability for a transmission in nonhomogeneous anisotropic elasticity. Let \(\Omega\) and \(\Omega_1\) be bounded domains in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) with smooth boundaries \(\Gamma\) and \(\Gamma_1\), respectively, such that \(\overline\Omega_1\subset\Omega\), and let \(\Omega_2= \Omega\setminus\overline\Omega_1\). Let \(u(x,t)= (u_1,\dots, u_n)\) and \(v(x,t)= (v_1,\dots, v_n)\) be the displacement vectors in \(\Omega_1\) and \(\Omega_2\), respectively. The system of equations is described by \[ \begin{alignedat}{2} &\rho_1 u''_i- \{C_{ijkl}u_{k,l}\}_{,j}= 0\quad &&\text{in }\Omega_1\times \mathbb{R}^+,\\ &\rho_2v''_i- \{G_{ijkl}v_{k,l}\}_{,j}= 0\quad &&\text{in }\Omega_2\times \mathbb{R}^+,\end{alignedat} \] and the transmission conditions \[ u= 0,\qquad C_{ijkl} u_{k,l}\nu_j= G_{ijkl}v_{k,l}\nu_j\quad\text{on }\Gamma_1\times \mathbb{R}^+. \] The boundary condition on \(\Gamma\) is nonlinear, and it is given by \[ G_{ijkl}v_{k,l}\nu_j+ (x- x_0)\cdots\nu(x) (\alpha v_i+ g(v_i'))= 0. \] Here, the mass densities \(\rho_i\) and \(\alpha\) are positive constants, and \(x_0\in \mathbb{R}^n\) is such that \((x- x_0)\cdot\nu(x)\geq 0\) on \(\Gamma\). The elasticity tensors \(C_{ijkl}\) and \(G_{ijkl}\) are symmetric and satisfy the ellipticity conditions. The function \(g\) is nondecreasing, satisfying the conditions: \(g(w)w\geq 0\), and it is semilinear in the sense that \(|g(w)|\leq 1+\text{const}|w|\). If \(g\) satisfies the inequality \[ c_1|w|\leq|g(w)|\leq c_2|w|,\qquad\text{for all }w\in \mathbb{R}, \] then it is shown that the energy \(E(t)\) of the system decays exponentially as \(t\to\infty\). The proof is based on the multiplier technique. If \(g\) satisfies, in addition, some stronger nonlinearity condition in the neighborhood of \(w=0\), then it is shown that \(E(t)\) decays polynomially.
