Analysis of thin coatings of nonlinear diffraction gratings (Q1863644)

The paper analyzes the effects of nonlinear thin coatings on diffraction gratings, where attention is restricted to second-order nonlinear effects. It is a continuation of the authors' earlier work [Elec. J. Differ. Equ. 1999, Paper No. 36 (1999; Zbl 0928.35172)] on the one-dimensional version of the nonlinear model. In the present paper the model problem becomes a system of nonlinear PDEs. The authors derive a formal asymptotic expansion of the fields in the nonlinear coating and establish its convergence.
