\textit{S. Yoshiara} constructed in [Eur. J. Comb. 20, No. 6, 589-603 (1999; Zbl 0937.51009)] examples of \(d\)-dimensional dual hyperovals in \(\text{PG}(2d, 2)\) and \(\text{PG}(2d+1,2)\) (a \(d\)-dimensional dual hyperoval \({\mathcal H}\) in \(\text{PG}(n, q)\) is a collection of \(q^d+q^{d-1}+\cdots+ q+ 2\) \(d\)-dimensional subspaces of \(\text{PG}(n, q)\) spanning \(\text{PG}(n, q)\) and such that (1) every three distinct members of \({\mathcal H}\) intersect trivially, (2) two distinct members meet in a point, and (3) the intersection points of a fixed member \(X\) with the other members of \({\mathcal H}\) generate \(X\)). Yoshiara identified \(\text{GF}(2^{d+1})\times \text{GF}(2^{d+1})\) with a vector space over \(\text{GF}(2)\) and described and parametrized the members of the \(d\)-dimensional dual hyperoval with the field \(\text{GF}(2^{d+1})\). Considering \(\text{GF}(2)\)-subspaces of \(\text{GF}(2^{d+1})\) this construction yields examples of \(d'\)-dimensional dual hyperovals in \(\text{PG}(n, 2)\), for \(n>2d'+1\). This was apparently noticed by the author in some specific cases, and then formalized in general by Yoshiara. But the dimension \(n\) cannot be determined in general, and may vary from case to case. In the paper under review, the author shows that examples exist as soon as \(2d'+1\leq n\leq 4d'-7\), for \(d'\geq 4\).
