    In the present article, the author studies the Cauchy problem in \(H^{\infty}\) for evolution equations (\(p\geq 1\)) in the sense of Petrovski with real characteristics. The main result of the article reads as follows: Let \[ P = \Pi_{pm}(t,x,D_t,D_x) + \sum_{j=r}^ma_j(t,x,D_x)D_t^{m-j},\quad t \in [-T,T],\quad x\in \mathbb{R}, \] where \(p\), \(m\) are positive integers. It is assumed that \(\Pi_{pm}\) is factorized as follows: \[ \Pi_{pm}(t,x,D_t,D_x) = \prod_{j=1}^r(D_t - \lambda_j^1(t,x,D_x)) \dots (D_t - \lambda_j^{s_j}(t,x,D_x)), \] with \(\sum_j^r s_j = m\), \(s_r\geq s_{r-1}\geq \dots \geq s_1\). Suppose that the \(\lambda(t,x,\xi)\)'s are homogeneous of degree \(p\) in \(\xi\) and satisfy the following properties: \(\lambda_j^i\) are real-valued; \(\partial_t^k\lambda_j^i(t,\cdot) \in S^p\), \(k = 0,\dots m-1\), \(k = 0,\dots, m-1\); \(\lambda_j^i(t,x,\xi)\neq \lambda_k^h(t,x,\xi)\) if \(i\neq h\) and \(\xi \neq 0\); \(\lambda_j^i - (\lambda_j^i)^* \in S^0\), where \((\lambda_j^i)^*\) denotes the adjoint of \(\lambda_j^i\). The lower order terms are of the following form: \[ a_j(t,x,D_x) = \sum_{|\alpha|\leq p(j-r)}a_{\alpha j}(t,x)D_x^{\alpha}. \] Let \(s\) be a positive integer. If the initial Cauchy data \(g_h\) are in \(H^{s + p(m-1-h)}\) and \(f\in C([-T,T; H^s)\), then the Cauchy problem \[ \begin{aligned} Pu(t)& = f(t),\\ D_t^hu(0)& = g_h,\quad h=0,\dots,m-1, \end{aligned} \] has a solution \[ u\in \bigcap_{j=0}^{m-r}C^j([-T,T]; H^{s + p(m-r-j)}(R^m)). \] Moreover the following energy inequality holds: \[ \sum_{j=0}^{m-r}\|\partial_t^ju(t,\cdot)\|_{s+p(m-r-j)}\leq C(T)\left\{\sum_{j=0}^{m-1}\|\partial^j_tu(t,\cdot)\|_{s+p(m-1-j)} + \left|\int_0^t\|f(\tau,\cdot)\|_s d\tau\right|\right\}. \]
