Let us mention at first that R.~Bryant, on his home page, claims not to name surfaces of constant mean curvature 1 in hyperbolic 3-space (cmc-1-surfaces for short) after him. He argues with a precise reference to the classical book of \textit{L. Bianchi} [Lezioni di geometria differenziale. 2 vols. Pisa, Enrico Spoerri (Bologna, Zanichelli) (1922/23; JFM 49.0498.06)]. An end of a cmc1-surface given in conformal parametrization on the punctured unit disk \(\{z\in\mathbb{C} | 0<| z| <1\}\) is called regular if its hyperbolic Gauss map can be extended meromorphically to 0. In analogy to a notion of minimal surface of finite type in \(\mathbb{R}^3\) introduced by \textit{H. Rosenberg} [Bull. Soc. Math. Fr. 123, 351--359 (1995; Zbl 0848.53004)] an end of a cmc-1-surface is called of finite type if its hyperbolic Gauss map is of finit growth in the sense of Nevanlinna. A cmc-1-surface is called of finite type if it is of finite conformal type and all its ends are of finite type. It is proved that a cmc-1-surface of finite total curvature is of finite type.
