Consider a reductive Lie group \(G\) in the Harish-Chandra class, \(\sigma\) an involution of \(G\), \(H\) an open subgroup in the group of fixed points and \({\mathbf D}(G/H)\) the algebra of \(G\)-invariant differential operators on \(G/H\). Let \(\theta\) be a Cartan involution of \(G\) commuting with \(\sigma\). Fix a finite dimensional unitary representation \((\tau,V_\tau)\) of the group \(K\) of fixed points for \(\theta\). Let \(C^\infty (G/H,\tau)\) be the vector space of \(C^\infty\)-functions \(\Phi\) defined on \(G/H\) with values in a \(V_\tau\), \(\tau\)-spherical. Next, let \({\mathcal A}(G/H, \tau)\) be the space of \({\mathbf D} (G/H)\)-finite, \(\tau\)-spherical functions on \(G/H\). Under a supplementary assumption, the main result is related to a generalization to the case of reductive symmetric space of the well known result that, on \(\mathbb{R}^n\), every smooth function annihilated by a finite codimensional ideal in the algebra of constant coefficient differential operators, is a linear combination of polynomial exponential functions \(P(x)e^{\lambda(x)}\), \(\lambda\in \Hom({\mathbf R},{\mathbf C})\), and is stated as follows. Let \((\tau, V_\tau)\) be a finite dimensional unitary representation of \(K\). Then one has the following vector space equality \({\mathcal A}(G/H, \tau)={\mathcal A}_{Eis} (G/H,\tau)\). This means that, in the case of reductive symmetric spaces, the role of the exponential functions involved in the definition of the annihilating ideal is taken by the Eisenstein integrals.
