Stabilization of a nonlinear Timoshenko beam (Q1865560)

The author studies a nonlinear partial integro-differential equation modelling the large vibrations of a Timoshenko beam. He proves a local existence theorem by the standard Banach contraction mapping theorem and he obtains global solutions for small initial data. Then the stabilization of the global solution is studied under various growth conditions on the feedback function and this also in the case of dissipation. No discussion about the possible relevance of the results in applications is given.
